another example of the wts's loaded language that i actually find quite offensive.. the expression 'following a worldly course' is banded about, often in a similar context to that below, taken from the watchtower of may 1973 (convention review):.
the next oldest, a son, told how he also at one time wanted to go to college and follow a worldly course.
but his father sat down and reviewed the scriptures with him.. so, what is 'following a worldly course'?
The above quote is a good example of a JWD expression - talking out of both sides of their mouth. They seem to be very good at condemning something on the one hand but using the exact same tactic on the R&F. Only when you have your thinking ability back can you see they do this. I remember hearing strong condemnation of the way the Pharisees were, and then to go onto a talk about what rules we must abide by for the next convention, or another example is getting people of other religions to find out about them and if they are wrong to leave, but that is forbidden to do if a baptised witness. By their saying these things are wrong they seem to put a person off of the fact that they themselves do these very things.

was thinking about this the other day and wanted to get your (yes: your) opinion.
i find myself slipping farther and farther down the agnostic scale in my thinking--it's possible that i'll end up an atheist.
my suspicion is that because i was raised being taught that all other religions are false, that i came to the conclusion that if the witnesses don't have "the truth" then nobody does.
Certainly in my case as I became aware that the witnesses were no different to the other religions - making the bible say what they wanted in order to get converts, and having no more truth than the next intepretation, it certainly has made me question is the bible a book written purely by men. More and more I think it is.

individuals who have recently gone thorough .
some challenges with the watchtower society.. one was questioning the elders about the un.
I didnt attend the JC that disfellowshipped me, but going on a previous one, it was a case of bullying you into submission and guilt by probing your every thought and action, it was done in secret with you facing up to four Elders all firing questions at you.

afterall, most of us spent years there.
many of us took our time and money to build the hall.
many of us renovated the hall afterwards.. shouldn't the halls belong to the ones who built it and put money into it and who go there regularly?.
Yes but the WTS would lose control....

hi, i hope this hasnt been said before - i searched back a bit but didnt see anything - but anyway i was round at my ex's getting my children when i came across the creation awake, and read a bit in a box about are jw's creationists.
it stated that creationists believe that the earth and everything on it was created in literal days and yet this is not in the bible.
i then began to read how the wts claims there was some thick cloud (but no proof provided) that obscured the sun which acording to them was already in existance.
And as each creative day passed this cloud disapated and allowed the sun to shine through. So I grabbed her Bible and read aloud the scripture:
Gen 1: 16 And God proceeded to make the two great luminaries, the greater luminary for dominating the day and the lesser luminary for dominating the night, and also the stars. 17 Thus God put them in the expanse of the heavens to shine upon the earth, 18 and to dominate by day and by night and to make a division between the light and the darkness.
Now although this doesnt make sense from the point of view of earlier verses, the WTS teaching is certainly not a provable or Biblical answer either - in other words their teaching of this thick cloud can also be said to NOT be in the Bible!

comments you will not hear at the 10-08-06 wt study (september 1, 2006, pages 22-26)(prayer).
review comments will be in red.
wt material from today's wt will be in black.
Enjoyable comments, thanks Blondie! I too missed the flip flop of the courtyard, with so much going on it was hard to know what we did or didnt believe. I love the way they try to make their two classes of Christians work in the publications - unfortunately when you are in you are somewhat blinded to what the scriptures really say about true christians.

ok so i am a ex-witness,(disfellowshiped) i have posted here before...but i must say why have'nt we moved on?
come on i mean if we all really thought that the jw sect was just that then why are we not trying to forget it and let life go on as it has; and try to be true to ourselves and our neighbor and read jesus words as recorded in the bible?
i have been reading my bible on lunch breaks at my work, as well as reading in the dhammapada.
here here, lady lee!

what exactly is the cause of the wtbts total obsession with masturbation?.
is there any religion in the world that has printed so many articles on this topic?.
if your feelings are similart to those of luiz, pedro or andre, take courage.
GRRRRRR! This makes me so mad!!!! I was one of these 'youths' who felt simply terrible about my bad habit - I was crying during a JC because of all the other sins I had commited this was the only one I couldnt stop. Its so awful of those idiots to keep printing this utter shyte. The poor kids who have such low feelings of themselves doing something thats so natural - afterall who shows you how to do it? You just get curious and thats it. And as has been pointed out if you dont masterbate you have wet dreams, with erotic thoughts, so even though you might be strong to resist it gets you anyway!
This was the primary reason I left the Dubs. I had had enough of feeling SO guilty over this. Once I let it go, I found I was no longer obsessed with it anyhow. So just like a diet if you contantly condemn something like this thats natural its all you can think about which makes relapses more frequent. Once I knew they had got this wrong it allowed me to explore all the other things I'd argued about in my head.

the anti sex beatings from the wtbts go on and on!.
november 1st 2006 'awake'.
this particular mag has an article on 'does romantic love justify premrital sex?'.
Thx for posting this one! Its so true its the WTS labelling of it and the guilt they constantly heap on young couples that causes many problems. As one who had premarital sex as a JW, I know it helped influence me to 1) marry the person - to make it right (flawed yes, but I was young) and 2) it caused my wife to feel bad about sex for the rest of our married life (sex = being bad)
I'm not saying if you want to live as the Bible says you dont have to abstain, the problem comes from the constant minute analysing of it and making such a big song and a dance about it. Who are the congregation (FDS) to keep passing judgement on a couple? Its up to the couple to make things right between them and God, not an organisation to keep up a constant stressful guilt trip.
